What is Engineering Criticality Audit?

 

The Business criticality audit is about identifying and eliminating risk to business continuity, safety and compliance and product quality. The audit identifies how the current maintenance and engineering strategy compares to statutory requirements, analyses gaps in current systems that could lead to business risks and makes clear recommendations on how to address these.

What are the Objectives?

  • To audit the adequacy of the site maintenance strategy in terms of compliance with statutory requirements
  • To identify critical items of plant and apply a scoring measured in terms of health and safety risk and business continuity risk
  • To audit the adequacy of the site maintenance strategy with respect to the assigned criticality score
  • To draw conclusions and make recommendations for the site based on the findings of the above

How is the Engineering Criticality Audit done?

 

The audit is conducted by an EMS consultant with support form the site engineering and senior management team. the 3-day on-site process involves the following stages:

  • Process Mapping of key processes and site services
  • Risk analysis of key processes and services using Nebosh criteria as a basis for Health & Safety and the site operating context as a basis for business continuity risk
  • Criticality Scoring of the key site assets
  • Detailed audit of a number of the critical assets including site survey,examination of procedures and systems and interview with key personnel
